The full terms
Who we are
Rusty is an app for learning languages by talking with an AI teacher. It’s made by Lucas T., an independent developer based in the United Arab Emirates. “We” means Lucas and anyone who helps run Rusty; “you” means you. By using the app you agree to these terms.
Using Rusty
Rusty is for your own, personal learning. You can use it as much as you like within the limits the app shows (for example, a number of calls a day). We keep improving it, so features may change, and now and then something may not work. We’ll do our best to fix it quickly.
Your account
You can try Rusty without an account; to keep your progress, sign in with Apple or Google. Keep your sign-in to yourself. You’re responsible for what happens in your account.
The AI teacher
Your teacher is an artificial intelligence, not a person. It can misunderstand you or make mistakes, in the language you are learning too. Don’t rely on it for medical, legal, financial or safety decisions, and never in an emergency. To give the teacher a voice and to understand what you say, your voice and the conversation are processed by AI services we work with (such as OpenAI and Google), only to run the app.
What you say
What you say and write in the app stays yours. You let us use it to run the app for you: to hold the conversation, track your progress and write your next lessons. If you send us feedback, we may use it to make Rusty better, and keep it after you delete your account, without your name or your voice.
Privacy
We keep what’s needed to teach you: your progress, what your teacher knows about you, and your calls as text. Your voice is not kept unless you switch on call recordings in the app’s Privacy settings. You can copy everything the app knows about you, and deleting your account removes all of it for good. The details are in our Privacy policy.
Be kind
Don’t use Rusty to harass anyone, for anything illegal, or to get the AI to produce harmful content. Don’t try to break, overload, copy or resell the app. If someone does, we may stop their account.
Paying
You can use Rusty for free, with a starter allowance of live-call minutes and your teacher’s voice notes and messages. Rusty Pro is a subscription (monthly or yearly) that gives you up to 30 minutes a day to call your teacher, up to three calls a day from your teacher and more voice notes; a free trial may be offered. Top-Up Packs add minutes once. Prices are shown before you buy, in your local currency. Payment, renewal, refunds and cancelling go through the App Store under Apple’s rules: a subscription renews until you cancel it in your Apple ID settings, at least a day before it renews. Minutes and packs are tied to your account and have no cash value.
Ending
You can stop at any time and delete your account in Profile: everything else is deleted for good. If you use Rusty without signing in, that progress is deleted after 48 hours without use. We may close accounts that break these terms, or if we ever stop running Rusty; if so, we’ll tell you in good time where we can.
Our responsibility
We work hard on Rusty, but it’s provided as it is, and we can’t promise it will always be available or free of mistakes. As far as the law allows, we’re not responsible for indirect losses. Nothing here takes away rights your local consumer law gives you.
Changes
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we’ll tell you in the app before it takes effect. If you keep using Rusty after that, the new terms apply.
The law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates. If we ever disagree, let’s talk first: most things can be sorted out by email. Nothing here takes away rights the law of your own country gives you as a consumer.
